Gonda (UP), May 01 (ANI): The protest by India's top wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh at the iconic Jantar Mantar entered its ninth day on May 01 with the ever-rising support of politicians. The latest visitor at the protest site was Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. Politicians such as Priyanka Gandhi, Deepender Singh Hooda, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, former J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad have visited the protest site to extend their support to the athletes in the last few days. The country's top wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have been protesting since April 23, demanding criminal action against Singh for alleged sexual harassment and intimidation of seven wrestlers including a minor. While talking to ANI, WFI Chief alleged that the real target behind the Wrestlers’ protest is BJP. While talking to ANI, WFI Chief also alleged that forces involved in the ‘Tukde Tukde gang’ and Shaheen Bagh seem to be involved in the protest. “If my party asks me to resign, I will resign...Forces involved in ‘Tukde Tukde gang’, Shaheen Bagh seem to be involved in it (Wrestlers’ protest), I am not their target, party (BJP) is their target, these athletes are paid. Protest is expanding like Shaheen Bagh, they want to divide UP and Haryana,” said Brijbhushan Singh.
