Farmers in Gilgit Baltistan lose home, livelihood

Gilgit Baltistan, 19 November 2019:- Farmers in Thor region of Gilgit Baltistan are reeling under abject poverty because of Islamabad’s exploitative policies. The indigenous people in the occupied territory, whose only means of subsistence is farming, are no more in possession of any land as Pakistan is building dams on it. They were provided with alternate piece of land, which were either inhabitable or hundreds of miles away from their original homes. A meager sum of thousands has been given as compensation against the land worth lakhs.
