‘Hindi’s status in Pacific region on discussion table’: EAM at World Hindi Conference in Fiji

Nadi (Fiji), Feb 15 (ANI): Calling it an opportunity for India and Fiji to further strengthen their long-standing relationship, Union External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on February 15 in Fiji expressed his gratitude towards the Fiji government for jointly co-hosting the 12th World Hindi Conference and said that the conference will hold discussions like status of Hindi in Fiji, Pacific region, and indentured countries. Calling it a perfect platform to also focus on various aspects of the Hindi language, the Union Minister said that the impact of Hindi language on IT, art, cinema, and more will also be discussed. “It's an opportunity for many of us to visit Fiji and promote our long-standing relationship. In events like World Hindi Conference, it is natural that our focus should be on various aspects of the Hindi language, its global use and its dissemination. We will discuss issues like the status of Hindi in Fiji, Pacific region and indentured countries,” the Union Minister said. The 12th World Hindi Conference is being held in Fiji’s Nadi which will be conducted from February 15 to 17. Union Minister Jaishankar inaugurated the conference along with Fiji President Ratu Wiliame M Katonivere. The 3-day conference will be jointly co-hosted by India and Fiji.
