Jul 08, 2024
Kathmandu (Nepal), July 08 (ANI): In less than a month, monsoon-related disasters in Nepal have claimed at least 47 lives due to floods, landslides, and lightning. Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Dol Prasad Aryal, reported the casualties to the National Assembly, highlighting extensive damage, including 46 completely destroyed houses and significant injuries across the affected regions. The Kathmandu Valley experienced severe flooding, and the government estimates that up to 1.8 million people could be impacted by rain-related incidents this monsoon season. The early onset of heavy rains has worsened conditions for residents, particularly slum dwellers, who are already facing dire circumstances.
