Sep 15, 2020
Diamer, Gilgit Baltistan, 15 September, 2020:- Resentment is at its peak among the locals of illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan especially those living in Diamer. #GBNeedDamRights is making rounds on social media platforms. Youth are protesting outside the office of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in Chillas for keeping them deprived of employment opportunities. WAPDA recently advertised vacancies for the Diamer Bhasha dam project in which not even 1% quota of jobs was allocated to the local youth. They call it an injustice done to them by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, who had earlier promised jobs to the locals.
