Uprooted trees, downpour, severe waterlogging witnessed in Kolkata following Cyclone Remal

Kolkata, May 27 (ANI): Following the landfall of cyclonic storm ‘Remal’, various parts of Kolkata witnessed severe waterlogging. Commuters making their way through waterlogged roads in their cars and two-wheelers due to heavy rainfall. Several trees were uprooted in the Alipore area after strong winds and rainfall as cyclone Remal hit the West Bengal coast. Traffic Police were seen managing the heavy traffic amidst the rain and waterlogged streets. Severe cyclonic storm Remal’s landfall process commenced over coastal areas of Bangladesh, West Bengal on May 26. The cyclonic storm hit between West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts with an intensity of 110 to 120 kmph, gusting to 135 kmph. As per IMD, the cyclonic storm would continue to move nearly northwards for some more time and then north-northeastwards and weaken gradually.
