New Delhi, January 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s single visit to Lakshadweep drastically changed Google search trends. As the pictures and videos of PM Modi’s visit to India’s ‘Beach Heaven’ went viral, the search trends started to change. On Jan 04, ‘Lakshadweep’ became the 10th most searched word on Google in India. Now, on Jan 08, worldwide search interest for Lakshadweep was highest in the last 20 years. Notably, the search went up when PM Modi’s snorkeling videos went viral on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also gave a message to the ‘beach lovers’ and adventurers to visit Lakshadweep. But some MPs from Maldives, one of the most famous tourist spots in Asia, did not like PM Modi’s pro-Lakshadweep message. Reacting to a post featuring PM Modi's Lakshadweep visit, Maldives MP Zahid Rameez said that the idea of competing with them is “delusional”. An abusive tweet by Maldivian Minister Mariyam Shiuna on Indian PM’s Lakshadweep visit also sparked controversy. However, as she faced flak from the netizens in India, she deleted her post. Not only just celebrities from India, but politicians from Maldives also came forward in India’s support. The Maldivian Government clarified its stance as the issue escalated on social media. Notably, Maldives High Commissioner to India, Ibrahim Shaheeb also visited MEA on Jan 08 amid the ongoing conflict. Travel Company EaseMyTrip also expressed its solidarity with India and suspended all Maldives flight bookings amid row.
